Vitamin D

UV exposure, particularly UVB, is a catalyst in the natural body mechanism that creates vitamin D3 which in turn plays a role in the retardation or inhibition of internal tumours.

In the UK the vast majority of the adult population is vitamin D deficient by the end of winter.  UVB levels have now increased in the most up to date sunlamps and so not only do they now offer greater levels of sun protection but also greater production of vitamin D.
